WHAT CAUSES DAMAGED ELEVATOR ROPES?
Rouge is a fine, red iron oxide which forms on the rope, giving it a "rusty" appearance and suggesting that advanced deterioration is taking place. It elevator rope, rouging begins with lack of proper field lubrication.

ARE THE ROPES INCLUDED IN MY MAINTENANCE CONTRACT?
Most maintenance plans do not include the re-roping of an elevator if they do go bad, unless you have a very costly contract with the elevator company.
